I haven’t seen any posts about Hen, so I figured I’d start a thread. I finally got here this week for lunch with a couple of friends. They opened late last spring (maybe?) and the initial reports were that the service was a mess, so I waited (and forgot). But this week in the post-snow bitter cold, pho was calling me!
For starters, this is in a weird location. It’s on Rt 66 in between the Home and Restaurant Depots. It also looks like it’s closed from the outside because they’ve tinted all of the windows, but we didn’t let that stop us. The place is BIG (formerly a sports bar and then a crab boil that I’m not sure ever opened during the pandemic) and has a big bar on one end and a stage (!) for karaoke on the other. There must be at least 40 tables in the place! Thankfully it was lunchtime in meh weather, so we were one of only 3 small groups.
We didn’t go nuts ordering, partially because we had a pescatarian in the mix. We shared an order of (WAY too cold) shrimp Summer rolls and then we ordered our respective bowls of pho - 1 filet mignon (me), 1 chicken, and 1 seafood. A large platter of the requisite additions (Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos and limes was delivered along with soups, and I have to say that I was a happy camper. The pho broth had enough flavor to get me back to try some other things, and I took 1/3 of the bowl home and had it for lunch the next day, so I think it’s worth another visit. Anyone else been there yet?
