Heineken World's Apart Commercial

I’m usually pretty leery of companies cashing in on “trends,” but I don’t think trying to hear and see one another & find common ground should be a trend.

I thought this was really well done.

There is an episode of This American Life in which canvassers from the Los Angeles L.G.B.T. Center would go knocking on doors to have a conversation about Gay Marriage. If the canvasser was gay, then the result of that conversation could get some of the people to change their mind.

There was an initial discredited study, but the canvassers who actually did the work went back on the streets and got even better results. The key was not arguing but listening and sharing their experiences.


What a novel idea, eh? :slight_smile:
