It’s a lose/lose sitch IYAM.
If you felt they were rude or condescending when you initially asked about small scoops, that’s a valid customer service complaint and if you tried & didn’t like the ice cream, that’s valid too.
If you hadn’t had the product and were posting because of policy alone, I’d say they were justified in removing your review but it sounds like they’re being overly sensitive.
As a business owner, bad reviews hurt but you have to deal with them. I have one that I’d like removed because the poster didn’t even try the product, just decided to slam me for using FDA approved food colors. A different one stings because they hated it, but at least they tried it so I guess it’s valid but also their not liking my product doesn’t make it ‘low quality’ so I guess I could call defamation on that.
Try to remember that there usually are humans running the business.
I didn’t slam their product. I just commented on what I personally perceived to be a strange policy (the fact that I found the ice cream to be rather unremarkable compared to other local parlors aside). My review also happens to be the only negative one from what I can tell and — given that they are around a year later, my impact seems nonexistent.
BTW, I am also a human running a business, but that doesn’t protect me from other people’s opinions about how I choose to conduct it
I didn’t think your review sounded like a slam and agree that they’re being petty.
Does your business have reviews you wish you could remove? How do you cope with haters?
I’m home. It resembled 6 days and nights of lying on a gurney in the hallway of an overcrowded ER. Lotsa stuff going on in my room with the other person.
My farewell feast
Whew. Glad to hear you are home!
TY! Ubered home. 9 I don’t live far)
Glad you’re home. Hopefully with some good meals in the offing!
Cat snuggles first!
Oof. Glad you made it back home! Cat snuggles FTW!
So glad you’re home!! There cannot be enough cat snuggles!
Take care, Meekah. That sounds rough.
I only have a handful of reviews on Facebook that are all 5-star. The occasional troll has tried to leave a review in the past, claiming nonsense that never happened. Those reviews get removed and the perpetrator banned from my page stat. It took over a year for my business to be verified by Google, so there’s just one review at the moment (another 5-star ).
My client base is still pretty manageable, and due to the nature of my services, I know everyone personally. Makes sorting out the haters / non-clients easy
FYI: Apple Maps has also started collecting restaurant and other reviews when you do a map search. Was in SoCal, used Apple Maps and afterwards was sent a message asking for a review.
Glad you’re home. That shot of the hospital tray gave me deeply unpleasant flashbacks.
But, y’know, I still have a soft spot for those squishy dinner rolls. It was often the only thing on the tray that I would eat.
I’ve never had a Google review removed, but I did have an Amazon review removed. It was for a pair of gaming headphones that I said were pretty good, but the software that came with it kinda sucked.
Maybe a bit harsh on my part
Why have people write reviews if only positive input is ‘allowed?’
Meh.
Oh I’ve written a few scathing Google reviews, most recently the one I wrote about La Cosmo in Malaga.
Wasn’t taken down, but got the usual lame apology
