Harrisburg suggestions?

Looking for a dinner place preferably near the Crown Plaza on 2nd Street, walking distance?, for maybe a group of 6. All food types welcome!

Are you sure you can’t drive? There isn’t much great food in Harrisburg and it’s not fun to walk around there on cold nights, but even a few miles away, you’ll find some good choices.

Nalan at 829 State St #2008, Lemoyne (1.8 miles from your hotel) is a South Indian spot with great dosas - it’s just one example. Asia Mall at 1030 S 13th St, Harrisburg is even closer and has very good Vietnamese and Thai restaurants along with the best Vietnamese grocery in central Pennsylvania.

We’re going next week so it won’t be really cold. We can drive, we’d just prefer not to. Walking a mile or so isn’t a big deal, and we are from Philadelphia , so walking a city at night is no big deal. That said, we’ll drive for the right place too. Sadly I don’t think all of our group would go for Indian.

Oh well …

Don’t have much as I am usually in Hburg one or two nights a year.
Stocks on 2nd, good. nothing memorable to report
Dockside Willies/Dukes nice for the view and drinks but average food.

The restaurant in the Hilton is a pretty good steakhouse if that is what you are in the mood for. Bar area restaurant is good as well.

There’s nothing to walk around to in Harrisburg. It’s really uniquely bereft.

We really enjoyed Home 231 last time we were in H’burg, which should be doable to walk (about 15 min from your hotel). Massive portions, and they have very good :octopus:!!! Suba or Mangia Qui are also great & nearby. A lot of restaurants are located near the capitol.

I also heard good stuff about Cork & Fork.

Mangia Qui has been our go-to (this is a yearly event). Might end up there again just because it’s easy. But Home 231 looks really good!

Well, lemme know where you end(ed) up & whether you can recommend it. I have to be up in Hershey early December, and we’re grabbing dinner either there or in H’burg.

We ended up at Home 231. It ended up just being 3 of us (the younger 3 members of our group blew off the older folks, their loss - I was picking up the bar tab )
Two of us had the octopus appetizer. I had the Brussels Caesar salad alongside and the other octopus person had just the side of Brussels. The third person had the burger. Octopus was good, I’d have liked a little more char. (especially since they call it blackened, it’s not) comes atop potatoes, red peppers, onions and capers. There were an excess of capers on both of our plates. The Brussels Caesar was ok - a bit overdressed. The side of Brussels had pistachio, prosciutto, and truffle honey. I didn’t taste it but my companion said the truffle honey actually worked well. The burger was pronounced very good and the house chips were thick-ish and nicely crisped.
We didn’t order any of their mains just because we had been at a reception prior to dinner. The service was attentive if a little odd. I asked for the drinks to be on a separate tab since work was paying for the meal but I was personally paying for the drinks and she made a big deal out of it in an “oh sure, wink wink” kind of way.
I wouldn’t go out of way to go here but it was nearby where we were staying (and very close to the capitol) and given our options was a good choice.
