It wasn’t Kaoma Lambada, but it sounds a lot like it, so it may be an imitation of it. The 4th link below Kaoma in my Youtube feed was this video which sounds a lot like the one I remember, but it had a louder synth/backbeat/dance. I listened to Mexican hits first, thinking Costa Rica would follow Mexican artists, but I think that the hit I remember was more Brazilian or Peruvian, not influenced so much by Mexico.
Nowadays, as far as I know, it might as easily be a K-Pop group that is #1 on the playlist. LOL!
But this video is close to what I remember. Though the vocals are a bit less noticeable in the song I remember.
On edit: Wait, that says it is a Kaoma song? I did not think that singer was the Kaoma lead singer, Loalwa Braz. Now I am even more confused.
