This is another spanking
new addition to the ever-growing Toronto GTA, Japanese/Korean BBQ scene…Gyubee, Gyu-Hito, Shinta…etc, with raving coverage on Instagram.
First impression upon entering the establishment was the vast ginormous, modern front-of-house. A shortcoming was immediately noticed pertaining to the inadequate number of burners per table…allowing only one per six patrons.
Food selection follow a similar business model as Gyubee but with the addition of a limited selection of pressed/aburi sushi roll offering, a buffet style cold appetiser counter and an interesting dessert station featuring a selection of mini, help-yourself dessert puddings, ice cream, shaved ice and sweet syrupy toppings.
Meat quality, usually the star of such outfits, disappoints! Some choices featuring supposedly prime cuts of well marbled beef, look good in appearance but tough in texture. Marinated options were way under-seasoned.
Overall, one finds appetisers like Tataki Beef and Salmon, Sake marinated grilled chicken wings, House special fried sardines and Tempura way more enjoyable and outshines the main event…with the freshly made, grease-less and crispy tempura shrimp and Okra real standouts!
With Gyubee offering better quality meats, a return visit to this new kid on the block is questionable.
