The same olive brand, except also organic, at Costco costs three dollars more for twice the amount:
$20-$23 a liter is about average for good olive oil, I paid $69 for a 3 lt tin of Kriti Gold EVOO at Highland Farms last week.
I might give this brand a shot next time I’m in need, my sisters love it.
Food price for Triscuits at Shoppers.
Shoppers has a good deal on personal size packs of Pringles. I usually pay $6.99 -$7.29 at Loblaws, Metro and Sobeys. These almost never go on sale.
Hence the 9.8% increase in profits they just reported and a dividend hike of 15%.
Does buying the snack size make you believe you’re eating less?? I’d finish that off in about 5 minutes
I don’t buy them for myself, it’s for someone else who will eat the whole big can.
It’s like they don’t even realize there’s an internet. Here it is at WalMart, so everywhere in Canada, for $15.97.

Some of us hate Walmart more than we hate Loblaws.
(I don’t seek out at Tunisian olive oil. I buy Greek, Italian or Portuguese, at indie shops)
I know the regular price of mini cans of Pringles is a little less at Walmart than the regular price at Metro, Sobeys, Superstore or Metro. I’m willing to pay the extra 2 bucks for regular price mini cans, to not shop at Walmart, and to spend my money at the other guys.
None of the indie shops where I shop in London seem to sell Pringles mini cans.
Pfft. Pay and pick-up and avoid the in-store misery.
At which store?
I don’t do any online food shopping except for my orders from Sprague Beans.
I like shopping inside the stores where I shop.
A lot of stores offer curbside pickup. You can order online and pickup at the store usually at customer service.
Except for Walmart apparently. I’m saying you could without all the fluoresence and self checkout.
Unless it needs to be seen, smelled, or squeezed, I get it delivered. That other stuff is boring.
I check my cans for dents. I’m fussy about my meat and produce. If the beef or lamb looks oxidized, I choose something else. Sometimes I buy NY Strip or T Bone instead of ribeye because the colour is better. I definitely don’t trust anyone else buying fish for me. I buy fish on Fridays, and make my decision based on which fish looks freshest. Sometimes it’s one salmon and not another. Sometimes it’s halibut because the salmon or haddock look old.
I don’t trust Instacart ppl’s substitutions.
I love shopping in person . It’s one of my past times.
I don’t do Walmart because they put small business out of business and I don’t like the Waltons. Walmart also tries to quash unions. Walmart has been pretty misogynistic in the past .
I also loved Woolco. Walmart took over all the Woolco’s I loved.
In person today, $21.99/ l (conventional ), at Metro in London, ON ( sorry about the glare)
$17.99/750 ml (organic)
What’s crazy is that Metro has the 1 l conventional bottle for $16.99/l online.

I guess stock up online while the 1 litre conventional bottle costs less than the organic 750 ml bottle!
Loblaws selling them for $29.99!!!..highway robbery!! No wonder people boycotte them!
I saw that Terra Delyssa at Whole Foods last weekend at the $21.99 price. I never thought I’d see something cheaper at Whole Foods than Loblaws.
I lived near Whole Foods in Toronto for 8 years. It was mostly a little expensive for what it was, but I did luck out occasionally.
With Loblaws, you just need to know how much things cost elsewhere. The deals at Loblaws on produce are often better than the deals on produce at Metro and Sobeys. I mostly buy my produce at Farm Boy, independent Remark Market in London, ON, independent Fiesta Farms in Toronto, and independent produce shops on Bloor and College St in Toronto. I only visit Loblaws, Sobeys and Metro on the days I need items I can’t buy at Remark or Farm Boy. And I notice if the grapes, tomatoes, avocados or lemons are cheaper at Loblaws on those days!
I bought local ON asparagus at Sobeys this week when I stopped in to buy pantry items. Well, the asparagus was cheaper than my local indie Remark, but, it wasn’t kept with the tips in water. When I prepared the asparagus last night, the ends were woodier than what Farm Boy or Remark sell. I’d estimate 1/3 of each spear became compost. I would have been better off paying $5.99/ lb for local asparagus at Farm Boy or Remark.
I very rarely have felt gouged by what I’ve purchased at Loblaws.
I do notice when an item is a buck or 2 more than it is elsewhere.
My current price check item.
Tate’s cookies. On sale at Metro for $7.99 a pack from $8.99 regular price today. I have seen the price for this small bag of cookies vary from $6.99-$8.99.
Also, canned Carnation milk. $2.79 at Metro, regular price right now.
Metro on Aug 2, 2024
Carbone and Rao’s pasta sauces have reached $13.99 at London, Ontario Metros.
The Stefano Faita marinara, Arrabbiata and tomato basil, which cost $7.49, are good sauces.
The Mucci sauce is on sale for around $7. I’m cooking with a lot of tomatoes right now so I haven’t been buying sauce.
Canned Primo beans are on sale for 3 for $5 at Metro right now.
Canned evaporated milk is on sale. 2 for $4, regular price is $2.79.
Quaker Minute Oats have reached $5.79 regular price. It was on sale a couple weeks ago at Metro for $4.
Fibre One Cereal (original or honey clusters) is on sale for $6.49 from $8.79.
