Great dinner at Purdys The Farmer and The Fish in North Salem

We had a really delicious dinner here last Sunday. The joint was jumping plus there were storms rolling through so those seated in the garden must have gotten soaked. The food is eclectic, but surprisingly, everything we had worked. It was a little loud, but still possible to have a conversation. From Bronxville, it took us less that 40 minutes each way, even with the storms. I highly recommend this place.

What did you have?

I started with the beet, Gorgonzola and pine nut salad. I loved the combination for the funk that the gorgonzola added to the beets. My husband had the scallops and my son had the bacon rib. All were delicious. My husband, who knows a thing or three about bacon having just finished smoking 60lbs of bacon earlier in the day that he does for Augustine’s, felt it was more of a pork belly slab than bacon since it was extremely lightly smoked, but it was nevertheless delicious.

For the mains, I had the tuna with spicy shrimp fried rice, which was fabulous and which had a truly spicy kick that I loved. My husband had the swordfish and my son had the Neiman Ranch beef. They both loved their entrees.

I was a little disappointed with the dessert choices since it was my birthday and I was really looking forward to a piece of cake, but my son and I wound up sharing the key lime tart, which was good if not remarkable.
