Grants Pass?

We’ll be staying for a night near Grants Pass OR on a longer trip. Does anyone have suggestions about where to eat? There seem to be a number of hole in the wall places – Mexican, Asian – which might be worth looking into. Thanks!

Are you on Facebook? Our local food group is called
Southern Oregon Foodies which I can add you to or I’ll just poll them for you.
GP has lots going on food wise.
What’s the date?

Not on FB. We’ll be there Sept. 9 (Tuesday), suggestions welcome. We’re pretty versatile, but outdoors is essential since we have a dog.

Critical! Now I’ve got something to ask the group for you.
Will report back.
I’m at the other end of the Rogue Valley.

Here’s what we came up with…

You guys are amazing! Thanks for all these leads! Maybe we’ll have to skip the rest of our trip and just eat our way through GP.

What is your itinerary?

We’re headed down to the redwoods and then back up the OR coast. Since all of this will be camping, we’ll be huddled over the camp stove. It might be fun to finish up at Local Ocean in Newport, however. That’s a worthy stop.

From earlier this summer

Just curious. There used to be a Thai chef in Grants Pass, “Chef Boy”, that owned several Asian restaurants, not all Thai. He left Grants Pass 8 or 9 years ago after he divorced his wife and moved back to Thailand. Grants Pass doesn’t come up often. I’m curious if anyone knows what his reputation was then.

Well, the best laid plans of mice and men etc. We didn’t get into Grants Pass until after 11pm, so dining was out of the question. But we had an hour or two to wander around the following morning and were impressed with the surroundings. GP is in a beautiful area, more lush than, say, Ashland. We think we’ll come back again and stay for a while.
