It’s maybe 10–15 minutes away in Pepperell, but I want to shout out The Lazy Bubble. The menu changes weekly but always includes some Hungarian dishes, which is what drew us there. I forget the chef’s exact pedigree: if I remember right, his family is Hungarian and he worked for an Indian chef before opening this place. They do various monthly themed dinners which I haven’t checked out but seem to be popular.
I’ve apparently only taken two photos from the three or four times we’ve been. This is pork shoulder with nokedli, and a casserole of potatoes, bacon, cheese, and boiled eggs. Definitely not light food, we seem to go mostly in the cold months.
We’re fans of Gibbet Hill, too—and being up here, it helps that they have Toscanini’s ice cream for dessert (they had the lemon espresso last month, which I hadn’t had in years; probably still my favorite). Love their fries, which is probably why 90% of the time my order is either the burger or a steak with fries and bearnaise. (The beet salad is also consistently good, with minor seasonal variations.)
