" Golden Star Drive-in, Yonge & Steeles, Thornhill " - Really tasty, well executed Charbroiled Burger!

Revisited this almost forgotten Thornhill greasy-spoon institution. Last visit was pre-Covid!

Had one of the best tasting ’ Charbroiled no-filler Hamburger ’ for a long while. Well charred, smokey and aromatic with a nice selection of toppings. $20 for a 6oz burger with extra bacon, fries, drink and gravy.👍😋

FWIW, the housemade burgers are usually called a Homeburger at places like Golden Star, Burger Shack, Johnny’s , and Square Boy. They often have a cheaper hamburger as well, so if you’re going to any Greek- run old school burger spot like Golden Star, Square Boy or Burger Shack, always pony up for the more expensive Homeburger option, when there are 2 options.

I have a friend whose parents, who own a restaurant in Simcoe, Ontario, had their first date at Golden Star around 1972.

Now, that’s my kind of burger.

Try the hamburger at Kathy’s Grill instead of the homemade burger. It tastes so bad, it’s good!

I rarely travel east of Square Boy. Wasn’t familiar with Kathy’s!

Only $5.25 for a Double Burger?!! That sounds way too cheap!! …makes me question the quality of the meat and product!
