This bright and spacious Hong Kong style cafe/restaurant is located just a stone’s throw away from my house. However, during the past decade or more, I believe I can use just one hand to count the number of times I have eaten there!
Yesterday, after enjoying a surprisingly well executed and value for money afternoon tea there last weekend, we decided to give this place another try. This time for a casual dinner.
Man!! What a revelation!! A couple of dishes which caught my eyes and were ordered were so mind-blowingly tasty. One of them actually left me speechless!
The one I alluded to above was an uncommon and rare find in the GTA, - " Stir fried frog legs with aromatics, finished off in a cast iron sizzling hot pot ’ ! This could easily be the best tasting dish I have encountered in the GTA this year, if not this decade! And the price of only $22.99 was simply crazy!..considering I just spent over CAD$130 eating a stir fried frog legs dish in Hong Kong!..albeit a Michelin star establishment!
The other uncommon and interesting creation I ordered was " Stir fried Gwai-Lin style ( diced, pickled sweet mustard greens, tomatoes, minced pork, cilantro…etc ) Nissan instant noodles ". The wok-hay is mesmerizing, the taste profile exotic and addictive!
In short, both dishes were wow-worthy and out-of-this-world yummy!..the potpourri of aromatics used… taste-magic creator!
Other dishes we ordered included a Macau style Portuguese Baked Chicken Rice Casserole, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Gwai-Lin Soup Vermicelli. All were well executed, flavourful and enjoyable!
This place is definitely on my radar screen now!
