Go Duck Yourself [San Francisco, Bernal Heights]

I went to the new location of Hing Lung / Go Duck Yourself in Bernal Heights last night for dinner. They are having a soft opening now. I’ve had their excellent roast duck rice plates a few times via delivery.

Menu

I had a small order of their char siu pork collar ($10.50), a small order of their greens ($10) which are finished with a shot of whiskey, and a small order of white rice ($2)

Why didn’t I order the duck you ask? Well it was half a duck and I was flying solo. They don’t really have solo diner friendly items at the moment. In retrospect I probably should have gotten the duck as I took half of my char siu and half of the greens and half of the rice home  The portions are generous. Anyways the char siu was really good. It had a nice glaze. The greens (maybe yu choy?) were also good but could have been cooked just a tad bit longer. The rice was fine but could have used a bit less water. My meal came with a scallion oil sauce that was a bit unique - slightly crispy scallion in oil that was nice with the vegetables especially. I will be back to duck myself in the future.

Have you seen/heard what they are planning for lunch during the week in the future - always looking for new options beside Ming Kee ?

I didn’t ask about lunch but I did ask about perhaps rice plates with single portions - they said that was only at the old location :person_shrugging:

Thanks for the write-up. Hing Lung (Stockton St.) had been in our family rotation for a long time. We used to alternate lunch pickup between Hing Lung and Kam Po for my dad.

Ling Hung for their Fried Chicken Drumsticks.
Kam Po for the Poached Chicken Rice

Glad to see Hing Lung not only doing well, but expanding. Their owner may seem intimadating at first (big bearded dude with shoulder length hair, Hells Angel’ish). He is actually a sweetheart and well spoken, his family had family connections with Hing Lung on Broadway, best congee in town (no longer).

Try Kam Po sometime. Their food is very good across the board, and some of the best prices in town.
