I had an afternoon snack at GiGi’s on Divisadero today. GiGi’s is a wine bar featuring Vietnamese inspired food from former Top Chef contestant chef Tu David Phu. There’s also a bottle shop next to the bar.
Menus - food and wine and beer by the glass.
I had a glass of N/A wine to drink - a sparkling rosé ($16) from Kally.
The Bread and Butter ($7) were quite good. There were two Hawaiian style rolls which I think are baked in house. They were soft and fluffy with a somewhat crackly top. The butter was savory and had scallions in it.
Wagyu Dog ($19 + $3 for the Harborview XO sauce)
egg, pork floss, scallion-ginger, kewpie, unagi sauce, sriracha, furikake
I also had the wagyu hot dog from the “Signature” section of the menu. This was a loaded hot dog. The dog itself was snappy and juicy and beefy. There was scrambled egg (!) on top of it, and creamy mayo, sweet unagi sauce, pork floss, and a bunch of other condiments. There was also a layer of what I think was the XO sauce that I added for an extra $3 - sweet caramelized onions or shallots that had I think some bacon or ham cubes in it and maybe dried scallop. It was a delicious umami bomb in a bun that was lightly toasted and fluffy.
Hot dog cross section - notice the scrambled egg layer.
