Giardiniera knots at Grinders pizza (inner Richmond, SF)

Garlic knots are rare enough in the Bay Area, so I was excited to try the Giardiniera knots at Grinders, a new Chicago style pizza place. The knots are evenly browned on the outside, and have good tugability on the inside. Unlike the grease bombs I grew to love in NY, these have just enough garlic butter to flavor the dough, and kick from Giardiniera, pickled peppers, to elevate the knot.

How was the marinara?

Nothing jumped out at me about the marinara. If there’s something Chicago style about it, it didn’t register. Incidentally, they have deep dish pizza (not stuffed crust). I didn’t try any.
