That is very sad.
If you read the article, it isn’t hopeless yet! There looks to be some sort of asset acquisition (not sure if they are the buyer or someone else) that was made recently. Some of the bankruptcy seems to be tied to liquidity because of recent retirements of long-tenured workers, stock plan payouts, and this seems to have made cash flow tight. This article makes it sound like it’s temporary situation and that the filing is just allowing it to get more time to pay off the debtors.
Gardening really boomed with the pandemic. Now that food prices are feeling out of control, I hope this means more people might turn to gardening to supplement as well. Hopefully this gets them back into the green/black quickly.

Thank you for clarifying! I went back and included “chapter 11” because I wasn’t sure, but I was thinking chapter 11 means all is not lost.
It’s been years, but their stuff lasts! Maybe that’s the problem! I guess I should check them out again.

Totally hear you on that Chapter 11 definitely doesn’t mean the end, and in a lot of cases it’s just a way to restructure and stay afloat. I hadn’t checked out Gardener’s Supply in a while either, but now I’m curious to see how they’re doing. Seems like the quality of their products really did hold up over time. Hopefully they can navigate through this and come out stronger.
