It was controversial apparently, but I liked it. I love jazz, and I liked it’s offer to a great jazz player (and of course speaking to their jazz music sessions in the restaurant). But honestly, they changed after some said it wasn’t respectful, and we move on. I was working in Cambridge at the time, so I used to hit that place for lunch a few times a month.
I went several times years ago before the name change, and did enjoy the food as well as the jazz.
Have you been recently, and if so, what did you think of both the food and the jazz? We were thinking of going again soon.
Eh, autocorrect strikes again. That was supposed to be ode to great jazz player.
Sadly I haven’t been back since I left that area for work. Work got busy, moved, renovated, etc so I didn’t have a pressing need to be back there very often, and when I am, I’m rarely grabbing lunch.

This is descending into the childish, and – frankly – offensive.
I was responding to a post that’s now deleted. Nothing to see here.
You’ll be very unhappy with this place (the name is childish and offensive, so I am not actually writing it out): https://maps.app.goo.gl/Qn7LzvCJJMAsanmF6
I have lived very close to Boston since 1989 and I have never heard of this restaurant.
It’s very close to the original Row 34, so we’ve walked or driven past nearly every time we’ve gone there.
You’re not missing anything.
I had a very strong feeling that I wasn’t missing anything.
Was it crowded?
Sorry, I mostly averted my eyes and walked on
I can understand why.
I work in Seaport so I’ve gone to most lunch places within reasonable walking distance, and I’ve never stopped by this place. One - tacos aren’t a lunch priority for me, unless I know it’s a very good taco. There are better options in the area. Two - that it never seemed busy when I walked past wasn’t a good sign. I did notice the bar in there though, so I assumed it might be more catered towards an after work or late night crowd.
We’ve gotten take out from Fupo/FUPO twice now and it’s been good to very good. I’ve had the chilled noodles (with cucumbers and carrots and a chili/sesame-ish sauce) both times, which packed some good heat. The cipollini had the warm peanut noodles and SO had the spicy shrimp pasta.
We’ll keep it in the rotation - it’s nice to have a new option in the neighborhood.
I like the chilled noodles dish, myself. The shrimp pasta was interesting.
I had a very good pickled greens soup from them the other day, nicely sour with glass noodles. I had the spicy version, more “Huron Village Spicy” than anything else, but still with a discernible kick, especially if you gulp down a mouthful of soup and let it hit the back of your throat.
One of their strengths is still their stuffed flat breads. The newish beef flatbread has a nice concentration of green Sichuan peppercorns, offering more Ma than La. An even newer sweet potato stuffed bread was terrific, but I gather it is a temporary item.
I gotta try their durian pizza.
Durian pizza? I hadn’t known that was a thing. Please report if you do try it.
Apparently so. See the posts at the very top of this thread, esp the one mentioning the NY Food Court.
ETA: I was discussing FUPO three weeks ago with one of the staff at Formaggio Kitchen across the street from them. We agreed that it was very good, and we also agreed that the durian and banana pizzas were items we’d been wary of. He said, however, that there are South American dishes that pair guava with cheese, and that these pairings at FUPO might also work.
