Fried chicken meet Houston

I don’t think it will be that busy. We won’t be alone, but we should be easy to spot.

Just look for the best looking group in the place.

(We’ll be the other one.)

HAHA!

Do we not have a fried chicken DOTM thread? Is this it? I’m meeting “DimSumCouple” for an early lunch today and we’re trying one of the unique fried chicken spots. Will report later.

Hahaha! 4 is best for me too. Avi, maybe you can tell us the color of your anticipated attire and we can flag you in. Actually, that’s you on the CH post next to the handsome, rather stony faced gentleman, right? We got you covered.

I’ll make it very easy. Jaymes looks like Jennifer Anniston. Doobs is nondescript but with luck his stunning mother will be there, drinking a beer. Lambowner and her husband look Polish. I look Polish.

I’ll make it even easier. I’ve got longish hair, could lose some pounds and will be in a teal shirt with fish on it. I probably will be wearing shorts, barefoot if I can get away with it. My hueracita wifeacita will be in tow.

I have been compared to Rob Ryan, the defensive coordinator of the hated New Orleans Saints, unfortunately.

We should be there early sitting at the counter in front of the main feeding area.

Now for some shocking news! There is a real possibility we won’t be eating chicken at all. The wifeacita wants fried shrimp and I want fried oysters. We’re hoping they’ll sell us some a la carte chunks of chicken like they do the seafood. If not???

After 55 years of looking in the mirror, I’ll take “nondescript” as a compliment!

Thanks JC!

And since my Mom loves that place she probably WILL be there, but I don’t think they serve beer. She might have to sneak one in!

I think I remember having beer there but we went a couple of years ago and they didn’t have it. I checked the website a few days ago and beer was on it. We shall see.

******* BREAKING NEWS ********

I called BBQ Inn and they sell fried chicken by the piece. Fried chicken, shrimp, and oysters, you’re darn tootin’. How about a hunk of chicken fried steak and a catfish filet? The possibilities are endless.

Oh, they also serve beer.

Avi, my friends find me easy by looking for my red hair. I think my pic is posted on my profile. I know Mary and Sharyl but that’s it.

Ummmmm James, pardon moi but WHO hates the Saints? Should I wear my Saints gear?

You will be easy to spot, Redtop. If your husband doesn’t show, I will be happy to be your escort for the event.

Better post an emergency alert that anyone that is scanning the room for someone that “looks like Jennifer Anniston” probably will wind up at the wrong table. I look a whole lot more like the non-descript grandmother in front of you in line at Target and wasting your time by chatting up the cashier. The only possible identifying thing to look for is likely to be turquoise jewelry since I’m planning on checking out the Native American Pow Wow at Trader’s Village beforehand for some Navajo Tacos and fry bread. And a piece or two of turquoise might jump onto my hands while I’m there. http://tradersvillage.com/houston/events/26th-annual-native-american-championship-pow-wow

So look for Jennifer Anniston at the Four Seasons in Austin - she’s there a lot - and look for Granma Hootie at BBQ Inn at 4.

I’m going to try to talk my crew into hitting Airline first for Canino’s, Flores Spices and Houston Dairy Maids.

One of my favorite mini road trips.

Do it, wear your gear as I know you as a nice person from your posts and as long as you support your team and are nice we’re good… I will give you one salient reason for my dislike when we meet. They have fallen out of a tie for #1 to a tie for #2 with the cowboys behind forever the hillbillies that call the tennessee whatever titans call their thing.

Awww, thank you Avi. He’s warming up to the idea so who knows.

I just can’t stomach the Texans. Glad to see a bit of class on the team with J J Watt though. I’m really not that into football anymore.

Unfortunately, it appears that looking for Grandma Hootie isn’t going to be helpful either. I have awakened this morning with what portends to be a pretty bad cold - sore throat, headache, all that unpleasantness.

Am really sad to be missing this one. Sounds like so much fun and like we’ve got a pretty good group showing up.

I’ll be watching for newsy updates, and hope for some pictures, about how the meetup went.

And, PS, those photos of lamb chops made me think that lamb might be a good DOTM sometime in the future.

Booooo :frowning: Hope you get to feeling better soon. Looks like my husband is going to go after all.

Get well soon, Ms. Aniston.

Thanks, y’all. I’m really bummed. Think this one is going to be particularly fun.

(PS - Be especially nice to Mr. Redtop so that he’s madly keen to join us again next time!)

LOL - Mrs. Redtop. It was really fun, you were missed.

I don’t know what happened in that prior post ^^ I seem to be having trouble with the phone posting on this site. It wouldn’t let me upload a picture and when i tried again I managed to delete the whole thing.

ANYHOO, Jaymes we missed you! We numbered 10. Miss Kitty took good care of us and made us laugh. And I had shrimp and oysters despite the whole fried chicken mandate. So I’ll leave my shrimp and oysters here along with a picture of Brookshire Bros famous fried chicken. It’s so popular in East TX that whole entire billboards tout just the fried chicken and people take it away in suitcase sized boxes. It is pretty good, but the time I actually got it, it was a tad greasy, could have been the bottom of the batch. I need to catch them collecting it from the fryolater.
