Frankfurt Advice Needed

We’re spending Tuesday night in Frankfurt en route back home from Ischia. Rather than settle for airport hotel food, I’d prefer to train into town for some good sausages and pretzels. The Paulaner brewery tavern seems to get mixed reviews…does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance…

I have always enjoyed meals at the Paulaner in Munich. All the breweries have run nice restaurants in my experience.

I am keen on Frankfurt green sauce. Maybe keep an eye out for that on menus, if it appeals to you.

Thank you for the advice. We ended up training into the area by the Dom and strolling around before dining at Wirsthaus am Hünermarkt - which was fine but nothing more. Good pretzel, decent sausages with sauerkraut and potato salad, and a pretty sad gemischter salat. Nice lively outdoor dining scene which we viewed from indoors because we didn’t have a reservation. As a side note, one of our favorite sausages in Europe is the St Galler bratwurst at the Sternen Grill in Zurich. We were delighted to discover this month that they have a food truck conveniently parked at the Zurich Airport. A Burli roll, a sausage and beer each, and a shared excellent potato salad made for a delicious and (for Zurich) inexpensive dinner.
