Fox Hollow Winery, Holmdel

Hope you’re not leaving HO @Rooster!

Not at all. While I am surprised by the small sample of fellow New Jerseyans responding disappointed in any or recent experiences trying wine from across the state, it won’t change my interest or plan to visit wineries this Fall. Nor does it change my respect for HO’s who are friendly posters but also unexpectedly comfortable asking that I post personal photos of my family, career or travels (which for some reason I get asked often on HO) as proof.

Didn’t realize that’s been an issue for you, so my apologies again for asking to see your dog!

Nope just replying to the question because it was asked.

@digga, the “going now” was referring to this thread and my OP on nj wineries.

Not necessary. Your posts here on the NJ food scene are very helpful.

Off topic alert.

Many members here meet semi regularly for dinners out. I am sorry I have not been able to make one. A few years ago it happened that junior and I were going to be in AC, and at the same casino, on the same weekend. I reached out to him and we met for a drink. I also got to meet most of his family before they headed off for dinner. Neither of us really thought anything of it. That’s just how some people are. Totally respect those that want to stay private as well. I don’t think light-heartedly asking for a picture of a dog is a huge intrusion to one’s personal world…but that’s me.

I’ve been fortunate to be part of another (non-food) website for the better part of the last 25 years. Like this corner of HO it is hyper local. Over that time we’ve not only enjoyed fishing together but been to weddings, parties, fundraisers, and yes too many funerals together. My personal belief is what drives local sites is the community. It’s only natural to be curious about your fellow posters.

Holy cow. Tom There was more reaction over a request for a photo of my dog than for a. NJ wine question.

I simple said no. Why that prompted defending this Board of local posters or a community is a thread gone sideways.

Geez folks. I get to decide my own comfort level but all this is overboard.

Yes I wholeheartedly agree we all have our own level of comfort on the internet or for that matter in life, even though the NSA & Elon Musk follow our every keystroke LOL

Your pup is adorable. Not sure how people get offended by a dog picture.

If you are referring to this OP about a local winery or NJ wineries sidetracked by a request to have me share a photo of my dog, then be clear I was not offended. I was surprised. And maintain my decision to say no need only be respected.

Meanwhile, all I was hoping for was some firsthand info on local wineries.

Hope you get some at the occasion of your next visit

Also, not sure how long you’ve been on HO, but… thread drift is a thing. It happens.

Sure, I see thread drift and participate. But a simple no got way too much attention…
