Fourth of July Community Food Traditions

If we’re close to home on July 4th, we like watching the town parade in Chelmsford MA and stopping by the Unitarian Church to grab a fresh doughnut and an iced coffee. Doughnuts on the Fourth seem to be a minor tradition that’s part of this community celebration. Well, for us anyway.

Have you run across a hometown food tradition where you spend your Fourth?

Growing up in Sausalito, CA, we spent many July 4ths at the Marin end of the Golden Gate Bridge watching “fireworks” AKA multicolored fog. It was always freezing. Why we would go back every year is a mystery to my grownup self. Looks like it will be like that tonight, but I’ll be home!
