Food fairs, events, festivals and other Bacchanalia in the GBA

The East Cambridge Business Association organized a croissant bakeoff today:

ElmJudge

I would have sampled some of the offerings, but over a thousand others had the same idea:

ElmCrowd

I fled, grabbing some excellent strawberries from Momma’s at the edge of the madness and a terrific pickled egg.

So much love for this one. Here is what I ate at the Lowell Folk Festival last year.

Elmendorf Baking Supplies does this every year and every year it gets bigger. We got there around 11:50, 10 minutes before it was supposed to begin, and it was already mobbed with long lines. Really fun event if you get there early!

oops, sorry for the repeat posting of the Cambridge Day article!

Taste of Somerville is June 11.

I knew there was a HO who had gone and couldn’t remember who it was - glad you weighed in, @tomatotomato!

Estimated 7000 in attendance. Yeah, that just gives me the heebie-jeebies. I don’t do crowds like that anymore. :woman_shrugging:

I don’t either!!! We got there before they were supposed to open, around 11:50 and they were already open and lots of people! After about 15 minutes some of the lines were very, very long. As the crowd grew, we left, but did enjoy it. We ate at nearby Gufo pizza (which was great, by the way) and saw long lines of people approaching the festival and almost no one leaving in the opposite direction!

This is a great list! Thank you for sharing it.

Anyone try either Jerk Fest or Caribbean Rum and Food Festival in prior years? Curious to try one or both but with these sorts of events I’m always worried about overcrowding, 2h lines, etc.
