Every year I create two big matching planters of begonias and some other shade plants for the front of the house. Today I put them together.

I intended to do much of my flower planting last weekend , but then we had a hard frost

I don’t dare put anything outside yet. Temperatures are still dropping to 0C overnight. No improvement until the second week of May.

Two-year-old perennial geum (avens.) I have a newer pinkish one but it’s not blooming yet for some reason.

My orchids love my outdoor lanai…extra humid near the pool, warm temps, and bright but indirect light. Before I lost them to a blight (and a travel schedule that didn’t give me time to help them) I had dozens. I love love love being out on the porch when theyre all blooming.
