Didn’t see anything on this previously. As a former Staten Islander I was very much looking forward to this spot as I am a huge fan of the Royal Crown in SI.
They did a great job on the spot. Very nice inside. Plenty of parking even in RB.
Had a cpl sandwiches. Fried eggplant, fresh mozz, balsamic glaze on brick oven bread and a fried chicken cutlet with fresh mozz and same glaze on brick oven. Was 31 total using credit card. I must say it’s a really good value. They were monsters, heavyweights. Easily could get two meals out of one sandwich. And they were delicious. We polished them off in minutes, splitting two people to each.
They also have a nice looking breakfast menu in addition to lunch/dinner. Sit down service is also available with col people there for coffee and dessert while I was waiting for my food. The bakery stuff looked good with cakes, pastry, and some Italian cookies in the case bookended by some savory items as well.
A really great addition to RB. Can’t wait to try more items even though now that big mikes is gone this is my fav eggplant sub in the state. Would def recommend giving it a shot.
Boss picks up for my co-workers and they rave about it. One is a pastry chef. He doesn’t bring for me because I’m not a yes man. May have to stop by though.
Hit this place today on my way to the train. Really pleased with the specialty coffee Mex choc/toffee), La Nonna potato/egg/mozz on soft roll sandwich and fresh bakery goods I took with me. Relaxing space, no issue parking, friendly staff. Wife had a coffee and croissant egg sandwich. $50. for everything.
Pastries: slice of carrot cake, cannoli cream donut, almond croissant.
You’re reminding me that I never posted about Filoncino… I stopped in there on my way home from an appt in Middletown and got a small selection of cookies. Separate of the (WAY) overly eager staff member who was staring me down as I browsed the bakery case and menu, I thought the space was nice. Same staff member rang up the 4 cookies and 1 slice of pizza and telling me it was $49 and change (NOT a typo), and I looked at her and said "What? How much are your cookies? Forget the pizza… and she recalculated and it was $18+ for everything. She did apologize, but that will keep me paying attention the next time I go!
The PB&J chocolate chip cookie (vegan, though I don’t care) is GINORMOUS and I loved it. Seriously. A good ch ch cookie smeared w a ton of PB and drizzled w raspberry jam? YES PLEASE! I had one of the lemon/rasp macaronish cookies too - also excellent - and the others are in my freezer for cookie emergencies. The pizza is also in the freezer. This is how I roll.
Sandwiches and salads sound delicious but they’re nutty RB prices.
They had to credit me for a bread loaf that wasn’t in my take out box. The spec coffees are made to order and a dollar more than regular. 3% added for cc use.
For the same experience at The Skillet in Freehold ( just comparison) I’d pay $15.00 more and have. Unless I’m eating breakfast at a diner and sticking to senior menu or very basic fare, breakfast runs similar to lunch or an early bird dinner cost wise many places now. I’m just happy when parking costs nothing and I leave happy with my meal.
Def not cheap for sure but will say at the sandwiches are a good value. We can two meals out of each one easily. They are not skimping by any means oh heft (or price)
Yea, I didn’t think the money spent was surprising and I was very happy with my meal. My wife liked that their croissants don’t flake apart, plenty buttery.
You are funny. I did take a look at his acct earlier and boy does he like sweets. And hamburgers. God bless his taking one for the team! My SIL told me her lunch experience there and I went to ck it out.
But if you imagine me sitting in a van, reviewing local food go right ahead. ha! I travel by truck with my dog (you were so curious about last time). Heading to another NJ winery next weekend.
Give Filoncino another try. It would be nice to see them succeed.
Another enjoyable breakfast here. The french toast with blueberry sauce is the largest Texas toast slice I have ever seen, Prince egg sandwich was delicious, took baked goods home (their cheese danish is so good). Only bummer was the pour over Brazilian coffee. Wife’s iced chia was solid.
