February 2021, Openings and Closings (Boston & New England)

If the fire was in the late 60’s that was before my time hanging out there (mid-70’s). The building remained largely unchanged from what I knew as Oxford Ale House when it became Border Cafe. The supporting posts in the main dining room are the same. In Oxford Ale House days there was a narrow plank between two of them that supported elbows and glass pint mugs (I distinctly recall they had handles). There was a wall that divided the Oxford Ale House space into separate rooms that got removed for Border Cafe. The acoustics were pretty awful for live music, but played at volume no one seemed to mind.
