Fathers Day weekend eats [Warren RI]

Busy over here so quick run-down without my usual protracted color commentary.

Friday late lunch in Warren at La Piñata . Chicken fajitas for B, cheese quesadilla for Spring Onion, mushroom tacos for me. Meh across the board but we were all happy, sitting on the spacious chill patio. That bar has been set (low) a long time ago, friends—B and I are easy dates.

We happily wandered around post-lunch, buying vinyl records and a fancy backgammon set when lo-and-behold, I see that Prica Farina, the jewel box pasta/lovely Italian/cheese shop is open (we’re always in the hood on Sundays, when it is closed). Had to restrain myself a bit but bought fresh lumache and torchietti, an Italian dried bean soup mix, Carmine’s pasta sauce, fresh focaccia, jarred Calabrian pepper. After our large mediocre lunch, for dinner, we happily snacked on some of those goodies and the wonderful pickled asparagus we picked up last weekend at Grapes and Grain wine shop and castelvetrano olive pesto and cheese from Rind cheese shop which is next door (I love 1-stop shopping). Then licked our wounds after the Celts game but secretly happy that they may win in Boston (tonight, for anyone who cares).

Sunday at 12:30 pm was an ess-show at Blount clam shack so we ended up at Wharf Tavern. They were able to seat us outside and while it was just fancified generic American food (not gonna call it “ethnic:wink:) it was just what B wanted for Fathers Day. My littlenecks in beer broth were really good—plump and plentiful, which doesn’t come through in the photo, B devoured his burger, and SO loved his sad-looking cheese pizza. Did I mention a low-bar?
