We were in Taiwan and Japan in October. Taking a break from my usual blow-by-blow narrative. Mostly pictures with brief descriptions.
We started in Taipei and ended in Taipei, but starting this series in Matsuyama Japan.
Matsuyama Castle , planning our ascent as we enjoyed our hotel’s regional breakfast specialties.
Lift to the top, then a few hundred metres to the imposing castle walls.
Slippers thoughtfully provided. NO shoes in the castle!!!
Must negotiate very STEEP stairs, not unusual everywhere in Japan.
Not a huge castle, but the patina of history and magnificient views from the top well worth the climb.
Ride back down for a Matcha Ice Cream Cone, Matcha Tea and a Fog in the Forest (Matcha Mochi with Red Bean and Whipping Cream ).
Good start for our first time in Matsuyama.

Hotel Breakfasts are usually to be avoided, unless just to grab a quick coffee and small bite for sustenance before real food can be had. In Japan, breakfasts in-house are well prepared and offer a chance to sample some of a region’s proud specialities.
Amatoro-Buta Croquette : Breed of Pig in Ehime, Fat and Juicy
Jakokatsu : Fish Paste/Veg, Breaded and Deep-Fried
Simmered Squid and Taro
Somen Noodles Soup for breakfast? Hella yeah!!
Beef SPICY Curry ?? Yes, please!!
Kitchen Sink
A little Dis, Little Dat…
This was over the course of 3 mornings of our 4 day stay.

Your disclaimer made me laugh. Maybe your wife said, “you better make sure the Onions don’t think that we ate that all in one sitting!”

What’s wrong with eating it all in one go?

I need this in my life.
I think if given the choice, I would probably choose to be buried in a big vat of matcha soft serve.
