On one hand, I am glad that there are more options for better food. On the other hand, Whole Foods make things uniform across stores and that local identity is lost.
Its a familiar story also- LBO, excessive debt, financial issues.
The overall Fairway experience has been declining for a long time, IMO. I used to visit the one on the UWS weekly - I could find everything I needed there, for far less money than I would spend on the same items at Zabar’s or Citarella. However, as they began expanding, their prices went up, and with so many other grocery stores stepping up their game to compete, there was less and less reason to go to Fairway.
