You can put a plate or bowl over the butter container, set so it won’t run out- if it explodes the butter will drip back down into the container. Just don’t try cooking chicken livers in the microwave. Trust me on this- stalactites and stalagmites and no power on earth can keep the lid on.

I’m with you. The difference in time is minimal and its either cleaning a small metal pot or glass dish and the microwave
