Ernesto's (LES)

Went back only three and a half years later  (and because it was the closest attractive option).

Much better experience and food this time around.

.

Bread – not on the menu, but SO GOOD. Grilled & doused with olive oil.

.

Both types of croquetas (chicken, ham) again – shocker  – both excellent.

.

Octopus – excellent, though a miniscule portion (I made octopus a few days earlier, so the price to volume ratio stung even worse than usual).

.

White asparagus over mushroom puree – excellent, and that mushroom sauce was fabulous.

.

Rabbit risotto – I was less excited about this, but other diners loved it. The rabbit was perfectly tender. (Also, snails.)

.

Macaroni with idiazabal cheese sauce and mushrooms – a fancy mac & cheese with great mushrooms (crispy maitake). Bread came in handy to scrape up the last bits of cheese sauce.

.

Basque cheesecake – not the burnt & runny style, but absolutely delicious.
