England in April: Starting in London, then Stow-on-the-Wold & ...

Oh, my memory is going bad faster than i care to think.
I thought you had recommended a city there.

There is just so much going on there in a relatively small space. I have walked by that cheese kiosk and ogled the cheeses there every time, but have not bought any yet.
That bar under the bridge is pretty cool, too. I like the dry cider there.
Something for everyone.

All good things must come to an end. I returned to the US and Montana a few days ago and settled back in. And the first thing I saw was a new Pho restaurant, Pho Ha Noi, so I had to go in and give it a try. Not England related but probably not worth a thread on its own. Anyway, the menu is pretty firm in that Ha Noi type Pho should NOT have sprouts on the side. I seem to recall sprouts in Ha Noi but it was 20 years ago so maybe I am wrong. Any feedback on this? The broth was good, not great, and the meat was good (M&S do the meat here and they have some of the best elk and buffalo in the state, as well as the best jerky of all sorts) though the noodles were kind of sparse in the broth.

I miss my sprouts, though I did like the minced jalapeno.
So that was my first meal out since I got home. I think I may go to my favorite, Pho Ly, which is 5 or 6 minutes north of this one. Pho Ly is on my way to Glacier Park, which I visited after Pho Ha Noi. I was just getting a coffee in Apgar Village near Lake McDonald when this fella strolled by me in the parking lot.

His horns are just growing in, he is still in velvet so they will get much larger in the months to come. He looked like an ornery cuss so I kept my distance.
Lake McDonald is one of my favorite places in NW Montana.

Same deer but against the darker background he does not pop as much.

Thanks for reading my trip report to England! I really enjoy sharing my trips.

But it is very good to be home and see my bear greeting me as i got back.

On edit: I must have done something to set it off, but my Mac no longer allows me to do accents for letters in Vietnamese, or any other accents. I hold down the letter key and instead of giving my accent options, it repeats the letter. I went to settings and no joy on the key settings. Any advice would be very welcome!

I’m almost certain that the pho we had in Hanoi was more minimal than southern/Saigon-style (also 20-ish years ago). A friend of mine just visited both cities last month and I confirmed with her that her pho in Hanoi was sprout-less (albeit she only had it once in Hanoi). Also, sprouts go bad quickly, so it might be a tough item for a Montana place to ensure quick turnover?

I love the Vietnamese alphabet; I work on PC, so I can’t provide any IT help.

Thanks for the entertaining coda to your England trip report!
