Emeryville mall sold; to be remodeled

The Bay Street Emeryville mall sale to an LA developer has been finalized:

(excerpted) "…“Major redevelopment” of the property is slated to begin this summer, proceed in phases, and be complete by 2023, CenterCal said. It appears part of the new owner’s game plan is to position Bay Street Emeryville as a shopping, restaurant, and entertainment hub that can be the major amenities center for a ready-made audience of life sciences workers in the vicinity.

As the first step in that strategy, a pedestrian bridge is being constructed that would connect Bay Street Emeryville with the life sciences companies in the area. “The bridge will land at the Bay Street Food Terrace, which too will be renovated and filled with a curated mix of local and regional restaurateurs,” CenterCal stated.

El Segundo-based CenterCal estimated that the pedestrian bridge should be complete by this fall. “We are focused on completing the food terrace and adding outdoor seating and plaza space throughout Bay Street where family, friends, and co-workers can gather,” Ramey said. "

Lol. I don’t think the bosses in the life science companies are going to like that their workers are always spending time in the more easily-accessible mall.

Maybe delivery to the lobbies of the companies? grin

All the companies need to do is keep those vending machines stocked and the employees will stick around, LOL…
