El Suanito Brewing & Frelard Tamales

Wahine and I threw out the anchor for an impromptu lunch as we passed by this place, new to us in Bellingham’s Sunnyland neighborhood. It’s a legit brewpub with a Mexican spin (horchata milk stout, Mex lager, and others), and quick tacos, tamales, and the like.

The tortilla chips were fantastic–thick, fresh, and obviously house made, and the guacamole was excellent. We decided on that and split a chicken taco plate. The tacos were very good, but the refried beans and Spanish rice were amazingly good. We soon regretted not also having a tamale, because they looked fat and luscious–and they were all over every other table. Our beers were tasty and true to type. Definite sparse brewpub build out, but a very welcome discovery in Bellingham. We’ll be back.

There is a second location in… Frelard. https://www.frelardtamales.com/
