It’s an Augmented Reality game relying heavily on GPS-discoverable phantom objects. “PokeStops” are highly desirable stations to find which are used for refueling, etc. Players are so obsessive that they will favor a business that has a PokeStop nearby.
Thanks. I need to keep up with the trends more.
Yeah, that game has been out a whole 10 days now, where ya been?
And businesses can ( sort of ) pay for PokeStops.
While I’m not aware of individual businesses being able to do so, I do know a fortune 500 food retailer that paid a substantial sum ( > $1m ) to get PokeStops. It’s actually a brilliant business model instead of charging players ( which hate that ), gather money from drawing players to physical locations. Which only a location-based game can provide.
I have poked my toe in the PG predecessor, Ingress, and can say it is 100% addictive.

Add Poke Kana.
Still no Poke Mongo or Poke Hontas.
