Long time reader, first time poster. I’m driving with my family (17-year-old and 12-year-old) from Barcelona to either Uzes or Montepellier in a few weeks. Any recommendations for lunch along the way, and winter markets, lunches/dinners within an hour drive of Uzes or Montpellier would be much appreciated.
I would consider Colliure.
Our lunch at Le 5ème Péché was excellent.
It is not too far from the highway, and the harbor is very cure.
Anchovies are the best!
No idea about the markets.
Narbonne center is cute too. Just outside of the historic center there is a great wine bar/food bar - Maison St. Crescent - we had dinner there but they do lunch as well.
Nice wine shop as well.
They both look beautiful, thanks for the recs! Anchovies…you’re speaking my language
Anchovies bars all over the place in Colliure - and anchovies are superb!
Mamma in Collioure, perched on the cliff overlooking the magnificent bay. Do not be fooled by the name, this former pizzeria serves delicious, elaborate tapas based on local products.
In Narbonne, in the beautiful natural region of La Clape, Art de Vivre is a gastro in Gérard Bertrand’s Château L’Hospitalet, and should not be missed. Incredible that the place has no stars, the chef is incredibly talented and of course the wine list isn’t bad either.
I wish I had a better trip report, but unfortunately we didn’t end up doing much dining out, nor did we stop anyplace fun on the drive. We did find a very cute, eccentric creperie and cooked magnificent dinners with Uzes’ finest fresh market produce and poultry (including some local black truffles for new years).
