Do you rinse poultry before cooking it ?

I’m thinking because paper towels would be wasteful…and think it was a joke building off mine about the water shortage.

She had me going, though, until I hit “or an old pair of pajamas”.

Are you discriminating old pajamas?

Paper towels can stick to raw meat or poultry, leaving visible bits of paper.

Depends on the brand I guess. I’ve had that happen with cheaper brands, but – as you noted – they’re visible and easily removed.

That is fine. Just rinse the poultry AGAIN.

When using IQF pieces I don’t rinse, also not for still partially frozen parts either, on those absorbent little pads. If sitting in slimy gunk, then yes, and always rinse out the cavities of whole birds or turkeys. Then I disinfect the sink after washing my hands. I’m pretty careful to avoid cross contamination.

Never… Like the great Jacques Pepin said to the late, great Julia Childs “if the bacteria survives 20+ mins in a 400 degree oven, it deserves to live” or something like that
