Dinners in Paris input needed please

Interesting point about the sauces. We are not opposed to sauces, in fact we love them, but in moderate amounts. I guess when the sauce is just under the item or to the side and we can control how much of it we mix in that the best. Granite comes to mind; their sauces were great!

remember, we skip breakfast, eat minimal or no lunch, so by 20:00 we are good with 10 courses as long as they are not huge!

I never mixed up Alliance with Kei. The confusion was a Japanese K thing. Kei vs Ken Kawasaki.

Right, my mistake.

Agree about Alliance at lunch and unlike Parn’s description of the clientele at dinner, my adult daughter and I found a mixed, vibrant crowd. Sean is a delight and made our experience there not only delicious but fun.
Our dinner at Perception was an outstanding value and will be returning there in December.

At our most recent dinner at Alliance — just over a month ago — we were part of a very mixed and quite vibrant crowd. There were at least two tables of multi generational French families. As always, Shawn is a delight, and the whole team is quite engaging. Dining was fabulous, and the accompanying wines excellent. But I agree, the prices certainly have gone up. It’s been a while since we’ve had lunch there, but that’s what we will do next.

By the way, I’d been looking recently at the wine list at Le Clarence — and, indeed it does look quite disappointingly inflated.

Looks like it will be Eunoue, Alliance, Perception, and Les Parisiens.

Ref: Le Clarence
An ex-chowhound friend of mine ( skylineR33 ) tried out their 250 Euro tasting menu last Friday. Told me the total experience was spoiled by a few unexpectedly disappointing courses!
Specifically, the pigeon two ways which were bland, dry and overcooked! ( the pigeon he had at Auberge Bressane on the evening of his arrival was way better and tastier )
The dessert course overall did not reflect that of a Michelin 2* restaurant. Of the 4 courses offered, 3 involved single scoops of Apricot, Raspberry and Chocolate sorbet/ice-cream!..made him feel like eating Haagen Dazs ice cream at home! A square slice of Raspberry Cake tasted like a supermarket product!
Thinking the restaurant is under the ownership of ’ Domaine Clarence Dillon ', he was hoping to savour some of their wine offers, hopefully at fair decent price. Sadly, instead, he found the mark-up INSANE!

Eunoue last night was a blast, what a wonderful restaurant! Thank you @ParnParis for recommending it. Will post photos and notes later.

That was a terrible dinner.

Details?

Unmemorable (mostly mediocre) food and incompetent service.
Gazpacho with frozen feta was decent - except there were no traces of feta by sight or by flavor.
Whole grilled fish for two was well prepapred.
We had another couple of appetizers that were nothing special.
Service was terrible. I have seen all night long servers runing around the dining room not knowing where to place the dish they were carrying. Everyone in service looked like deer in headlights all night long. They kept trying to put stuff we did not order on our table.
We had our champagne bottle omitted from our bill (125 euro). I had to flag our server to add it back on so that we could pay for it. Except flagging him down was no easy task.
Our neigbouring table had items on their bill they did not order - it took them over 30 minutes to straighten that out.
The vibe was not great either - dining room full of American tourists (some more loud than appropriate), it felt like a dining room in a mid level US hotel.

Dinner at Alliance was fabulous (even if expensive). Atmosphere was wonderful, service team is delightful and with great sense of humor, many jokes were exchanged. Great recommendations and wine and food conversation with Shawn and Antoine.
