Dinner recommendation in or anywhere between UWS and Chelsea? [UWS, Chelsea]

We’ll be in town for two nights in late March, one of which is already occupied with the event we’re there for, but Thursday evening is wide open. Hoping to meet up with friends from Chelsea & possibly a couple of Brooklynites if they care to make their way across.

We are open to almost any cuisine except for Chinese bc I’m already having that for lunch with a former Chowhound, or Korean bc my PIC doesn’t care for it :woman_shrugging:t2:

Other than that, we have no allergies, and we are omnivores. We like a good wine list and cocktail program, but that is not essential.

Ideally not more than $100-120/person, drinks included (before tax & tip, obvy).

Ideally not a super-hyped place where I have to set an alarm for midnight to get a rez

Thanks, HOs! :pray:t2:

Barney Greengrass on the UWS.

Sullivan Street Bakery’s Chelsea location. Nice breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches

2nd Avenue Deli

What can’t you get where you are?

Note that Barney Greengrass is tiny and closes at 4pm.

For dinner?

Yeah, I’m confused about the deli recommendations.

Add more specs.

Our Chelsea friend suggested Veselka, where we went a couple of times with a friend.

Any South or Latin American, GOOD Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indonesian, good Indian, Spanish, …

Veselka makes sense but not 2nd Avenue deli?

Ok.

Is Txikito (sp.?) still around?

How about Spanish Diner in Hudson Yards? Run by Jose Andres.

they have the technology

I never said it made sense. I mentioned that our friend loves their borscht. Since she lives there, she can dine there another time, as we are not interested.

And I don’t want to have dinner at a deli, either.

Yes. Still good.

I wouldn’t go out of my way for Veselka, although I like it.

You actually didn’t mention the borscht.

Good luck. Enjoy your visit.

Banh is excellent, but no reservations and pretty far uptown.

It wasn’t relevant to my query.

I wish I remembered the Viet place we went to that had a lot of vegan options and was in the basement. Very good food and buzzing at the time… dang.

ETA: Van Da!

In the EV? You’re asking for USW - Chelsea.

I wasn’t suggesting we go back there.

I’ll check out the Jose Andres place. A friend went a while ago but I can’t remember what she thought of it.
