Yup, the closest experience to a bar mitzvah I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I definitely remember the chopped liver made tableside, and trying to figure out how to use a siphon bottle to make the egg creams. (My mother, who grew up with home seltzer deliveries, had no problems.)
The second location in West U closed during the pandemic. I had been twice and it was not crowded.
Re: the Roumanian steak - no way I’m ordering that by myself but there is a new-ish place on the west end of Meyerland which has an option: Ela’s Romanian Kabob. I don’t think Romania is particularly noted for its kabobs and given this is a Kosher restaurant, I’m thinking they ‘mean’ Roumanian. Anyway it’s on my list to try, among other things.
