Every time I drive around DeLand with my brothers, I get on them for never having tried one of the ubiquitous taco stands or Mexican markets. I finally put my foot down, and we organized a taco crawl of 8 joints, with one rule for inclusion: no table service.
The winning joint turned out to be a bakery that also serves Mexican food, in the nearby town of DeLeon Springs. They also have fabulous churros. The top three places all make fresh tortillas for each order.
After 8 tacos, one big churro, and a large cup of homemade Mexican-inspired ice cream, I was feeling so bloated that I prayed for divine intervention. Remarkably, my prayers were answered.
