Dark milk chocolate

Last year, I was intrigued enough by a FB ad for chocolate made from a purportedly new variety of Peruvian cacao that I ordered, and liked, the 64% (I think?) dark chocolate. It has a cherry-ish finish. More recently, they released 47% “dark milk” chocolate. I have no idea whether or not that’s a recognized thing, but I do like it. A far cry from “Nestshey’s”

More and more, I think.

Cadbury also makes a Dark Mil, as does Lindt. I guess those are closer to Nestle / Hershey, in terms of mass production.

Scharffen Berger’s milk chocolate is 41%, and might qualify… And, good news, they are no longer owned by Hershey’s! They were divested (along with Dagoba Chocolate) in 2021 and are once again privately held.

Chocolat Bonnat used to make a chocolate bar called Asfarth which was 65%, but because it contained milk powder had to be called milk chocolate. One of my all time favorite bars.

They now make one called Morenita with the same properties, but I haven’t tried it.
