[Cupertino] Mingkee Deli 西關明記腸粉

We recently had two meals at Ming Kee. They are a small chain from Guangzhou in China. They got 8 branches total. One in Cupertino, which was the first branch opened in the USA. One in Newark. And a third one about to open in Chicago.

Why does such a small chain have an international presence? Its because the owner’s childhood friend lives in the US. Hence the expansion here.

They specialize in rice rolls. According to the server, because the rice and ingredients are different, they are able to get to about 80% like the original in Guangzhou

In short, their rice rolls are indeed very good. Al dente. And quite a bit different from the more commonly found Hong Kong style rice rolls. Theirs are a bit less flat.

Meal #1:

Beef brisket rice noodle roll- their best selling one according to them.

Beef rice noodle roll.

Assorted pork porridge. Their porridge is also good.

Preserved egg & pork porridge. I like this one.

Porridge accompaniment. Add them all.

Got their double boiled soup option B- free range chicken cordyceps soup. This is ok. Add more salt.

Also got their chicken cordyceps rice. For the kids. This is ok.

Milk pudding. Smooth.

Black sesame sweet soup. That is revelatory. The best item in the meal lol.

Menu:

Many awards from Guangzhou:

Meal #2:

They also have a small selection of dimsum. Got the shiu mai. Its ok. Stick with the rice rolls and porridge.
