The sheet pan vegetables were very tasty and cooked nicely in my countertop “toaster” oven in about 16 minutes at 375 convection. It will be easy for Mr Bionda to select the non sweet potatoes from the mix (leaving more of the really good stuff for you!) I was pleasantly surprised by the small size of the Brussels sprouts - no need to cut them in half before roasting - they cooked perfectly tender in the same time as the rest of the veggies.
Yay for King Arthur 00 pizza flour. $7.99 for a 5 pound bag
Continue yay for fresh blackberries. Price was up a bit to 3.29 for 12 oz package but still a great price. I’ve been nibbling on these to help manage cravings for sweets
We bought it at a random stop in va on our way back to nyc. My experience has been that prices and availability are all over the place, when I used to compete in bbq contests, the costco in Yonkers mostly had flats but the meat manager when asked, sometimes came up with a whole brisket. I’ve noticed better availability and pricing approaching the Jewish holidays.
Best,
Gwen, we stopped by on way into st Aug today, they about 7 more in the case, of course they may have more in the back. You won’t find a better price for prime brisket outside of Texas:
Thanks so much!!
Costco Food Court switching from Pepsi to Coke this summer and bringing back Turkey Provolone sandwich.
We wanted something quick at the end of our trip to Florida, so we grabbed some cooked shrimp with cocktail sauce from their prepared food case and WOW, it was great! Not sure if the sourcing varies by store, but these were big, fresh, and delicious. Surprisingly, the cocktail sauce was solid too. Next time, I’ll probably kick it up with a little extra horseradish, but the quality and size of the shrimp were honestly shocking.
best,
Mark and I used to do this, and then eat it in the food court with beverages bought there.
Agreed. We were happily surprised with all of it. Just wish they included a few more lemon wedges.
David Lebovitz visits a French Costco, part one.
A kilo of amarena cherries for €14.99, wow.
A huge YAY to the Costco roses! Ordered online and shipped right to my house. Was $53/50 count including shipping. Out of the 250 I ordered only one wasn’t sellable. I was in charge of a rose sale fundraiser. I bought a few dozen in store as well. They held up so well with the air shipping, then hanging out in my cool garage, trimming and packaging before the sale.
Is that low or high? That’s about what strawberries cost in the US.
I bought a kilo jar in the Brooklyn costco last year - its been sitting on my shelf, I have no idea what to do with so many. Any ideas?
The only thing I buy them for is old fashioneds.
But you could make Black Forest cake or a cherry pie. (My nephews eat the cherries right out of the jar, if that appeals.)
Amarenas don’t really have a good texture for baking, IMO. I have used them as a garnish on cakes and other baked goods, but not is such great quantity. I would never personally buy a kilo, even at a great price, because I tend to use them sparingly, e.g. in cocktails.
@ernie_in_berkeley, an 8-ounce jar of the same brand (Amarena Fabbri) goes for $14.99 on Amazon and more elsewhere, although Trader Joe’s has started carrying their own seasonally for around $5.
Couldn’t you bake the tart shell and not bake the cherries but use them to fill the tart?
You are very, very lucky. I saw a disaster from Costco flowers for a wedding. Safeway came to the rescue.
I love them spooned over vanilla ice cream. Like low rent amarena gelato.
I will pick one out from the fridge every few months and just savor it.
