Replying to myself: EEEK what’s this in the bag? It was the size of 3 or 4 nuts:

I assume it was salt coating, but ugh!!

Found some mystery meat in our freezer, used the nyt pot roast instant pot recipe, threw in some shiitake mushrooms, turns out the gravy recipe they include makes the dish.
Mega YAY for the Fichi Fig, Walnut, and Cranberry Bites, a variety from Fichi that’s a Costco exclusive. It’s like fig fudge. Vegan, no added sugar, no preservatives or artificial gunk.
Eeeek is right!
Yay for prices -
eggs at 3.77/dozen compared to my grocery’s 6.79 / dozen. (Both way, way more than 5-6 years ago…)
pork tenderloins at 3.19 / pound compared to grocery 6.99 / pound. But I do have to repackage those from the 2 -2packs into 4 individual freezer bags, so call it 3.29 / pound allowing 10 cents per bag.
Wow, that looks amazing! Our local Costco stores (San Francisco Peninsula) did not get this, at least I never saw it, would have gotten it if I saw it…
Meh, Ling Ling Potstickers.
Not bad just super boring, little flavor no matter how bold I make the dipping sauce. I fear I will never finish this giant bag. How dare they sully Ling Ling’s legacy!
Yay for the red grapes from Peru. Nay, and “ick” for the shopper who opened several 3 pound containers of red grapes (he had to both slide off the cardboard closure band AND remove the tape container seal) to “sample”. I attempted to gently “call” him on it, saying ‘I didn’t know they offered free samples’, he explained that this was the only way to get a good batch at Costco, since you can’t see to the center of the container and there could be mold/musty-flavored grapes. I chose not to continue the conversation but still have no clue why anyone would sample the unwashed grapes that are prominently marked PLEASE RINSE WELL - treated with sulfer dioxide for fungicide use. Note to self – make sure to check under the grape container bands for the tape seal.
I recently purchased a bag of these and the two times I’ve dug into the bag to cook a few there were a few flat, yes flat potstickers!
Tasty, but not filling!
I love the cilantro-chicken won tons, use Fly by Bing Sichuan chile sauce. Fast. Delicious.
Cobram Estate olive oil from California is a good everyday oil. Baked a ricotta cake with it yesterday, too, and the oil flavor wasn’t too assertive. The name implies single estate, but I’m not certain. It doesn’t taste like a blend, though.
I freeze my nuts, especially walnuts and and other “oily “ nuts
Dude I knew it was cold in CA but … that cold?
Bro I had a feeling you’d be chiming in
You know me so well
#deeznutz
I can confirm - it was 18 degrees in Lake Tahoe Saturday
@PedroPero is in the other, even colder CA
I’ll have to give a meh to California organic EVOO. It’s bland, too bland to use as a finishing oil, only ok for sauteeing.
I bought the Terra Delyssa organic extra virgin olive oil on my last trip, and I like it. Not as fruity as some other brands and is pretty mild. A good alternative, if you want a mild EVOO.
