Yep, that’s the problem. Even with good prep organization you need to wash hands (and utensils) and move around. So climbing on and off the stool is as bad as standing (especially with my lovely inflexible surgery shoe ).
Well, the nurse still comes every M, W, F and tells me how good it looks and how well it’s healing. Then she changes the tube, wraps it up in gauze, puts the shoe back on it and checks the vac machine I’m lugging around. I guess that’s progress
It’s only been 2 months and 15 days since I was discharged from the hospital . . .but who’s counting.
I guess I’m lucky. The nursing care comes to me and nobody from the insurance company seems to mind And once the tube and shoe are gone I’m told PT will come to my home as well. So certainly more fortunate than many.
So I’m FINALLY responding to the thread I started!
I received this cookbook as a Christmas gift from a coworker (along with a nice bottle of their wine!) years ago but never made anything from it. So the challenge was a good time for me to start opening the books in my bookcase and start using them!
I found this perfect recipe to go with the scallops from Wegmans and the fresh COTC from my local farmstand I bought today. I cut the recipe in half, and sprinkled fresh minced parsley on top.
Oh…and I didn’t use a more expensive Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay. But I used a nice buttery CA Robert Mondavi Vint Chardonnay that worked quite well for cooking and libationing.
Atta girl! I tried a new recipe today, too! — Ina Garten roasted shrimp for shrimp cocktail, and I’m still not a convert. Not sure if it was the softish texture of the shrimp themselves, but I’m not sure it’s a major improvement over poaching them
I go to Wegmans in Burlington, MA every 5 weeks when I get my hair cut about 10 minutes up the highway. And I almost always get scallops for dinner for that evening.
It’s always local (often off the boats in New Bedford or the south MA area) and freshly caught. These were the driest dry scallops I’ve purchased from them in awhile. Barely needed the paper toweling i sat them on for about 10 minutes.
These scallops cost me $9.45 for the 5 of them. A bargain when you think what this dish would have cost in a restaurant.
