It’s hard to get good Trinidadian food downtown, let alone conch roti. So when I spied Kish Roti & Doubles (originally Lena’s Roti & Doubles) opened at Queen St E & Parliament, I made my trip for a takeout.
The dough suffers due to travel time obviously, but that was some amazing conch roti. Even the sauce had a strong conch flavour. They adjust spiciness by the amount of hot sauce they add to your order (tastes like scotch bonnet) and hot was still enjoyable but I’ll probably order medium next time. I also had the goat doubles (currently buy one get one free) and the dough was a bit sweet for my tastes but the goat was good.
The only downside for the conch roti was it was $25 (well… it is conch), but honestly the roti can feed two as I was stuffed. The other rotis are in the $15 range. I don’t know if I will get around to trying the other things though because the conch is just too good.
