Not a doubter, but Wahine is from S. Dakota, and she accused me of making this combination up to make her barf.
And here I thought it was a cinnamon roll slathered in chili.
Now, that I could get behind.
But just eating cinnamon rolls with a bowl of chili on the side? Amateur.
Midwesterner here. Despite the (now unreliable) Des Moines Register headline, this is NOT a Iowa pairing. Truly have NEVER seen this. And Better Homes and Gardens should know better.
I was skeptical too, as it was not something we were served in my district (suburban KC)
But my friend a district over remembers the combination vividly, partly because his mother worked as a cafeteria lady and would always bring home the extra cinnamon rolls, and occasionally the chili.
I get the impression most schools don’t have real kitchens anymore, at least if the comments on the elementary school food thread are representative. No ability to turn out 700 rolls everyday.
I do have to try this. Is this available on the Cinnabon menu in the traditional, obsessive Midwest?
I could sure see this with the churros or CinnaSweets @ Cinnabon but must admit the icing (such as on the BonBites) gives me a pause.
Weird. My in-laws love cinnamon rolls but I’ve never seen them paired with chili!
I hadn’t seen it until this thread. I love cinnamon rolls.
Chili is something I don’t seek out so it’s unlikely I’ll try the combo unless someone serves it to me. LOL
I try almost every cinnamon roll and sticky bun I can, when I see them offered at bakeries.
