Chengdu Food & Culture Festival Nov. 10 – 18, 2016

Martin Yan’s Yan Can Cook website has some details on this festival, which has been mentioned on the other board and in the Tablehopper newsletter. It will involve a City hall Gala, visits by seven notable Chengdu chefs (not including Yo Bo, but including apparent mapo doufu, fuqi feipian and Chengdu dumpling gurus), cooking demonstrtions and particiipation by five Bay Area restaurants: M.Y. China and Crystal Jade in SF, Koi Palace in Daly City, Chef Chu’s in Los Altos, and China Stix in Santa Clara.

Four of the restaurants will feature one-off events presumably featuring some or all of the chefs, while Yan’s own M.Y. China will feature Chengdu “inspired” menus from Nov. 12-30. Some details are available for the event at Crystal Jade on Eventbrite (it’s Nov. 17, not Nov. 16 and $128, not the $188 mentioned by Tablehopper). TH may have had it confused with Koi Palace’s event, though I can’t find any details on the KP website. Chef Chu’s and China Stix will be charging $100 and $65 respectively, according to Tablehopper.
