[Cheadle, Greater Manchester] Essy's Cafe

A newish opening in the village. We went for breakfast.

For me the “full English”. Sausage, streaky bacon, two fried eggs (came cooked in the American way of “over easy”), hash browns, tomato, mushrooms, beans and toast. The quality of sausage is always a key factor for us about a full brekkie and these were only OK with not much flavour in themselves. But everything else was fine.

For my companion in life, French toast, a dollop of mascarpone and a scattering of blueberries, with everything dusted in lots of icing sugar. All very, very sweet – too sweet in fact.

It’s not a cheap breakfast. The full fry-up was £14.95. The village has at least two other places which are not only cheaper, by two or three quid, but better in quality, IMO.
