Many years ago, we had a fabulous meal at San Xi Lou, and always wanted to return. Recently they have opened a new branch in Causeway Bay, we tried to make a reservation, but was always full. We returned to the original restaurant, the Garden Road branch on mid levels. The meal happened in late July with a bunch of friends.
Splendid view from the restaurant. 22th floor of Coda Centre. We could see the official residence of the chief executive on the far right of the photo.
Light was disappearing fast. The reflection of the restaurant quickly took over. Further behind, we could see Central.
Wok-fried pork intestine
Sichuan style stewed beef
Spicy lamb in stone pot
Spicy dumplings
Dan dan noodles
Roasted pork belly
I know, it’s Cantonese, no place in a Sichuan restaurant. Mr n insisted he wanted that
Braised E-fu noodles with chive and mushroom
Cream custard bun
It’s very hot this year in Hong Kong, ate that at least 3 or 4 times, even mooncake has this flavour!
Oozing in the interior.
Preparation of dessert.
Tofu fa with osmanthus syrup
The restaurant was pretty empty the whole night, I guess due to its isolation location. One needs to walk up the hill from Admiralty or Central… tough in summer.
Food was lovely. But we didn’t sense much heat, but probably due to our instruction to the waiter taking the order, we asked for “less spicy” for Mr. n. We all regretted a bit. The meal was still very good.
